    SCHOOL DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY

    Mt. Zion, a rural community with a population of 5,000, is located on the outskirts of Decatur in Central Illinois, 150 miles south of Chicago. Mt. Zion Community Unit School District #3 operates one high school,  one junior high school, and three elementary attendance centers;  these serve a total of 2500 students.
