• Introduction

I would like to introduce myself and welcome you to an exciting year in science at Mt. Zion. I sincerely believe in the importance of education and science. I have dedicated my working career to exciting students about both.

I earned my B.S. degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I completed my M.S. Degree from Eastern Illinois University. Since then, I have completed over 35 additional hours of graduate studies focusing on science and integrating technology into science education.

I began my teaching carrier in 1988 in Sullivan, Illinois, where I taught 7th and 8th grade science. Over time, I also assumed the role as technology director for the middle school. I worked in Sullivan for 17 years, covering life, earth and physical science.

I live in Mt. Zion, and I have a wife and two children. My wife is the Jr. High School librarian. My daughter is currently attending Mt. Zion Jr. High, and my son is attending Missouri S&T (Rolla) studying chemical engineering. In addition, we have two dogs--both rescued small mutts.

We have seen first-hand the quality education our son is receiving in the district. My wife has been at Mt. Zion Jr. High for several years, and has enjoyed her time here, so I accepted a position here in 2005 and have found it to be a stimulating and rewarding experience. We enjoy living in the Mt. Zion community, and it is a great situation for all of us. I look forward to a long and successful teaching career here in Mt. Zion.
